Bleeding CHaracter

Do you want to build material around a character that an audience can really fall in love with? Take your character to that level of X-factor undeniability? Come werk it OUT. Using exercises rooted in clown, melodrama and physical theater, we will take your character through a full emotional journey, learn more about their story, and get them ready to slay any stage.

Participants will complete some guided prep work before the workshop and show up with a character proposal. Expect the following:

  • Guidelines for determining if a character choice is "right for you"

  • Greater clarity/expansion of your character's body and spirit

  • Tips and tricks toward building material around your character, ranging from a 3-minute bit to a full-length show.

  • Specific feedback tailored to you, delivered by a seasoned director/teacher with an eye toward helping you thrive and shine on stage

  • No bullshit

  • No cruelty

  • Laughter and communal joy

This workshop is recommended for those with previous exposure to clown, but enthusiasm and eagerness to learn go a long way too.
