*SOLD OUT* Vidura Bandara Rajapaksa - The Paradise Gothic Tour (U.S. Debut: Special Preview Show)

Vidura Bandara Rajapaksa returns with Paradise Gothic, a sharp, darkly funny new hour exploring immigration, “radical” buddhism, and the absurdities of attempting to build a life within late-stage capitalism. With his trademark deadpan delivery and postcolonial wit, Vidura takes on corporate tech culture, spiritual burnout, and the strange comedy of trying to stay human in a world running by numbers. Smart, subversive, and quietly explosive; this is Vidura at his most fearless.

Cruel Babes

Live-directed by Cirque Du Soleil front man John Gilkey (“Brilliant” - LA Times), the modern clown ensemble, Cruel Babes, invites the audience into a fever dream of physical comedy and extended absurdist composition for a new and once-in-a-lifetime ride each month. Featuring 12 top performers (comedians, actors and musicians), it is a direct descendent of the underground hit, Wet The Hippo – the show that kicked off LA’s modern clown scene back in 2012.

“Somewhere at the intersection of the sacred and the profane, of poetry and dire scatology, of clown and Dada, of community and exile, of fourth walls and no walls at all, lies Cruel Babes. Cruel Babes welcomes you to their family playroom for laughs, tears, and live-directed anti-theatrical chaos that is at its very least…absolutely not like anything else.” — Keith Fulton, Filmmaker (Lost In La Mancha)

Robot Karaoke

ROBOT KARAOKE is a live comedy show with songs you know and new lyrics no one ever has sung. Our custom system, THE WEIRD ALGORITHM, rewrites karaoke classics syllable-for-syllable using fragments of the internet.

We might sing OKCUPID PROFILES to the tune of "I WILL SURVIVE", NEGATIVE REVIEWS OF CANDY LAND to the tune of "SAY IT AIN'T SO", or any combination of song and text in the catalog.

At the main stage show (7:30pm), special guests from the music, entertainment and advanced karaoke research industries will bravely test the limits of the human mind's capacity for chaos.

At the late show (9pm), we'll migrate next door to the Skunk Room and open the stage to audience requests until closing time.

Come ready to sing. Leave ready to transcend the physical plane as a being of pure karaoke information.

Freak Nature Presents: Freak Nature

As Elysian Theater 2024 artists-in-residence, Freak Nature Puppets grew a show called "Freak Nature Presents: Freak Nature." It's about a place called Freak Nature, which is kind of a theme park, kind of a national park, mostly really cool and awesome, and importantly it's 100% real. This October, flights to Freak Nature will board once again to see a TOTALLY new version of the show.

The Doubleclicks

The Doubleclicks (Laser Webber and his sister Aubrey Turner) wrote silly songs about dinosaurs, Dungeons and Dragons, and Mr. Darcy. Silly. Light. Novelty! Their sibling harmonies and YouTube consistency led to a 10-year career of rocking Portland's smallest rooms from 2009-2019. Then... some things happened. Laser and Aubrey are back together this November with the same songs—which, in retrospect, tell in detail Laser's story of being a closeted trans, undiagnosed autistic, emotionally awesome guy, using pop culture and ukulele songwriting to cope with a challenging world. We can't wait to see you again, or for the first time! It'll be the same songs... with a few key changes.

Martha has always been told she is scary - but why? Each night, she is pulled back into a recurring dream where strange figures, shifting realities, and distorted versions of herself wait in the dark. As the dream spirals further into chaos, Martha becomes convinced that something inside of her must be removed...though she can’t quite name what it is.
